The 5.4.7 Arts Center Awards Artist Residency at the M.T. Liggett Art Environment
The 5.4.7 Arts Center in Greensburg, KS has chosen Barbara Martin for a six week artist residency program at the M.T Liggett Art Environment, an artist built environment in Mullinville, KS. The residency will be in the fall of 2024. The 5.4.7 Arts Center was established in the aftermath of a tornado that devastated Greensburg, destroying 95% of the existing town, on May 4, 2007. It fosters the arts economy in south-central Kansas and hosts visiting artists, teachers, and exhibitions from around the world. The 5.4.7 Arts Center is also entrusted with the long-term care of the M.T. Liggett Art Environment which hosts an exhibit space chronicling the art and life of M.T. Liggett, and the acreage is home to a collection of hundreds of his political sculptures, metal totems, kinetic whirligigs, and artifacts from his practice. The residency is open to artist and creatives of all disciplines interested in working in a remote rural context and community in southwest Kansas and will provide time for contemplation, creating new pieces and interacting with the local community.

Now showing: The Red Hot Series (2016) explores the raw emotions of the color red, from the fiery to the lusciously seductive. Created as intuitive expressions of emotion, these original paintings explode with energy and passion. Don't miss this chance to bring the warmth and excitement of red into your space.
These first quality paintings have been displayed in galleries, at solo and nationally juried exhibitions and invitational shows. But for the past several years they have been in storage while we moved cross country and, well, because pandemic. Hence this "retrospective" to bring them back into the light they so deserve.
Each piece is a one-of-a-kind original painting on canvas, and comes to you signed by the artist (me, Barbara Martin), wired and ready to hang. Measuring 20”x20” square, the pieces are beautiful individually displayed or formed into perfect rows or grids to fit your decor needs.
Red Hot Retro is available exclusively through my new online gallery exhibition space and shop. I will personally wrap your purchase with care and send it along. Gift notes cheerfully included!
This limited time offer runs through March 2022. After that, prices return to normal.
